Portraiture is another of Chesterman’s artistic directions. A lifetime’s life drawing practice and teaching has given Chesterman an accurate eye for not only physical likeness but an acute perception of the personality of the sitter. Previous Commisionees include Prince Adan Czartoryski-Bourbon, a cousin of King Juan Carlos of Spain, Mikael Baryshnikov the ballet dancer, A certain captain in the Welsh Guards, a few Hollywood actors, innumerable children, cats, dogs and a horse called George. Not forgetting that nude portrait of ‘Wolf’, the T.V. gladiator that somehow appeared in the 'News of the World'.
